I found that for the 2011 season Gameday would open without content in Safari.  But it was fine in Firefox.  As it turns out the problem was Adblock – a wonderful Safari extension, but it snuffed out Gameday.  The fix is to go into Adblock > Customize > Manually Edit Filters.  The following may be “too much” code, but it worked:
